THESYBIN technology

Test tubes with samples in a laboratory

Strain

Limosilactobacillus reuteri DSM 15693. Research has confirmed its unique biological properties. They are the basis of the patent protection that we are developing.

Properties of the strain

One of the key features of the strain is capnophilia — it prefers to grow at a higher concentration of CO₂. The detailed description of these properties and their importance for the process remain part of the protected know-how of Thesybin Labs PSA.

Fermentation

The central stage of the technology. We carry it out under controlled, repeatable conditions, so that each time we get material with the same, defined properties. The process uses an industrial medium developed in line with the requirements for composition and safety.

From strain to formulation — the full process

  1. STRAIN biological material with defined, verified properties
  2. BIOSYNTHESIS carried out without oxygen, with monitoring of parameters that are a trade secret of the company
  3. ANALYSIS internal control after biosynthesis and after inactivation, in line with the information on the product label
  4. FORMULATION combining the created material with zinc, vitamin B5 and flavouring
  5. THESYBIN the finished product

Process, resources and the circular economy

We designed the production process to limit production waste — this is part of our approach to using raw materials efficiently.

One of the directions for further development of the technology is to use selected resources and by-products of the agri-food industry as raw material for further biological processes.

  1. RESOURCE
  2. BIOTECHNOLOGY
  3. NEW VALUE

We do not claim that every resource can be used again. We want to develop the technology towards solutions that help use available biological resources more efficiently, reduce waste and create new uses for them. This is a direction for development, not a statement that the described solutions are already in use.

One Health

We develop the technology with three perspectives in mind: the health of people, animals and the planet.

Research and publications

Every stage — from choosing the strain to the formulation — is part of research and development (R&D) work. We developed it on the basis of our own research and in cooperation with scientific institutions.

Study / publication 01

In a six-month study, researchers built an animal model. In this model, researchers could observe the link between giving L. reuteri DSM 15693 and changes in markers related to nervous system function and behaviour. The live strain, its inactivated form and the metabolites were all linked with changes in the GFAP and S-100B markers and in the animals’ behaviour. The results point to a neuroprotective mechanism that involves astrocyte activity and the function of the nervous system. All three forms gave similar effects. This suggests that products of bacterial metabolism play a role in the observed changes. The study was preclinical and included observations of laboratory animals. However, it showed a biological model of how the bacteria and the products of their metabolism work.

The results do not justify assuming that the same changes in the levels of the studied markers will occur in humans. They also do not justify linking such an effect to the current THESYBIN formulation.

Study / publication 02

In a study on mice, researchers built a model of acute Helicobacter pylori infection, which is linked with the development of stomach and duodenal ulcer disease. The aim was to check how the presence of live L. reuteri DSM 15693 affects the stomach environment and the course of the infection. The presence of these bacteria was linked with a thicker stomach lining, a thicker layer of protective mucus and fewer gastrin-producing G cells. This may have limited the conditions that help H. pylori colonise the stomach.

The results are part of the history of research on the strain. They cannot be presented as a confirmed effect of the finished Thesybin product in humans.
